What started as a 9 year-olds attempt to send a "Covid safe' hug to his Nanna, has turned into a World Record Setting kindness initiative. The "Hug Buddy" is a whimsical character whose serves as the mascot for the Viewspire WOH4L Clothing line and was also the inspiration behind the Hug Buddy Postcard Project! Over 50,000 Hug Buddy Postcards have been delivered across the US- bringing with him hugs, love, connection and a positive message about the importance of mental wellness.

So, one day I was playing and doing art work and my Nana was about a month away from leaving to move to a new city. She had been with our family since I was born so I was sad and I know she was too. I wanted to make her something to remember me and I wanted to be able to give her a hug if she needed one. So, I thought and thought and thought… and crafted and crafted and crafted. Then finally, I created a paper Hug Buddy. I thought, “wow, this is great for Nana” so I showed my dad and he loved it. I gave one to Nana and promised myself I would make more in the future. Well, the future is now and the Hug Buddy is now our Mascot!
